Policy

Billing and Expenses Policy

BCCA & ASOCIADOS provides the following information to explain its policies on billing and payment for professional services.

In determining the billing method, we consider the scope of the services; the value and importance of the matter; the objectives of the right or claim concerned; the novelty and complexity of the financial or legal services; the specialization and experience required; possible contingencies; the time needed for research and analysis; and whether the matter involves another jurisdiction.

Estimates and quotations

BCCA & ASOCIADOS seeks to offer an appropriate proposal to each client. Preparing an estimate of fees and expenses requires an assessment of the circumstances of the matter.

Fees. Depending on the requirements and agreed terms, BCCA & ASOCIADOS may charge by the hour or by the service.

Hourly fees

We maintain time records for each client and matter, reviewed monthly before billing. Our attorneys have assigned hourly rates ranging from $100 to $350, depending on the matter and the attorney’s specialization and experience.

Fixed fee per service

BCCA & ASOCIADOS may establish a percentage based on the value of the matter. For example, for legal assistance with a purchase contract valued at $500,000.00, the usual fee indicated in this policy is 0.75%.

The fee depends on the matter, the services requested, the experience required, the objectives and other relevant circumstances.

Advances and expenses. Costs and expenses such as long-distance calls, photocopies, delivery, travel and services requiring experts are billed separately.

For judicial proceedings, expenses may include court reporting, witness-related costs and services provided by the court.

Payment. Payment is expected within thirty (30) days after an invoice is issued. BCCA & ASOCIADOS may sometimes request a percentage in advance.

Payments are accepted in US dollars, by cheque payable to BCCA & ASOCIADOS, or by bank transfer.
